Yamaha XMAX and Honda Forza Rental in Chiang Mai
If you’re riding two-up, carrying luggage or heading out on a long loop, a 300cc scooter makes the whole trip more comfortable. We rent two: the Yamaha XMAX 300 and the Honda Forza 300. Both are automatic and both have ABS.

Who they’re for
Couples. A 125cc will carry two people around town, but on hills it works hard. The 300s have the power and the space for two adults to ride in comfort.
Long rides out of Chiang Mai. For the Mae Hong Son Loop, Doi Inthanon or a run to Chiang Rai, a bigger scooter is easier on long straights and steep climbs, and less tiring at the end of the day.
Riders who want more comfort. Bigger wheels, better suspension and a roomier seat make a noticeable difference over a full day on the road.
For riding around town on your own, a 300 is more bike than you need. A 125cc or 155cc will be cheaper, lighter and easier to park. Our guide to which scooter to rent goes through the options.
XMAX or Forza?
Both are 300cc automatics with ABS. The main differences are the key and the price. The XMAX has keyless start and costs a bit more. The Forza uses a standard key and is the cheaper of the two. Either is a good choice for the long loops, so let availability and budget decide.
First time on a bigger scooter?
A 300 is heavier than the scooters most people are used to. Take a few minutes in a quiet street to get used to the weight and the throttle before you head into traffic, and take it easy at walking speed and when parking, which is where a heavy bike is most likely to tip over. Once you’re moving, it’s a very easy bike to ride.
